Palisades Residence

Palisades Residence is a 3,200-square-foot renovation, redesigned for empty nesters embracing a new phase of life.

One of the core challenges of this project was working within the limits of the existing structure. Rather than opting for a full addition, our clients wanted to make strategic updates that would dramatically improve livability, chief among them: opening up the kitchen, living, and dining areas for effortless entertaining, and expanding the primary suite into a more private retreat within the home.

To meet those goals, we removed walls, reconfigured layouts, and optimized every inch of the existing footprint for function and flow. Behind the scenes, this required close coordination to accommodate structural beams, reroute plumbing, and navigate permitting logistics—all while staying true to the couple’s design vision.

Collaboration was central to the process. Through a detailed questionnaire and discovery phase, we gained a clear understanding of the couple’s functional needs and aesthetic preferences—from durable surfaces to hidden storage and custom features.

The kitchen became a particular focus. Designed for both daily ease and dinner party hosting, this space features custom cabinetry, integrated organization, and built-in features such as waste and cutting board systems tailored to the client’s lifestyle. Throughout the home, thoughtful millwork in warm walnut tones provides continuity and concealed function, including extensive built-ins in the living room and primary bedroom.

The design emphasizes contrast in texture rather than color, pairing crisp architectural lines with natural wood, soft textiles, and layered finishes. In the primary suite, subtle lighting, custom walnut cabinetry, and a marble-inspired quartz bathroom create a calming palette that prioritizes both aesthetic appeal and low maintenance.

Every finish was selected with longevity in mind. Our clients wanted the look of natural stone without the upkeep, so we opted for durable alternatives—carefully chosen quartz countertops, man-made surfaces, and rich wood veneers that bring warmth and elegance to a home designed for real life.
